Oakhurst Exploration Corp. “Oakhurst” is an early-stage Canadian junior exploration Company that is advancing its 100 percent owned property in Mountjoy Township located in the Timmins Mining Camp at the west extent of the Abitibi Greenstone Belt.
Oakhurst’s property is in one of the top mining jurisdictions in the world and the most prolific gold region in Canada. The Mountjoy Project is located within the city limits of Timmins in northeastern Ontario, approximately 725km northwest of Toronto.
The Timmins-Porcupine gold camp has yielded approximately 80 million ounces of gold from more than 325 million tonnes of ore milled an average grade of ~6.5 g/t Au from more than 50 mines.
There are more than 25Moz of defined gold resources in the camp that have yet to be mined.
Oakhurst has a land position of approximately 35 km² located in Mountjoy township. The claim block is ~5km NWW along the trend of the major rock group that hosted the main gold production centre of Timmins.
The area currently owned by Oakhurst has had gravity, induced polarization and soil samples over portions of the land area. This previous work has been compiled by management and drill targets have been prioritized. These drill targets will be the focus of future exploration efforts.
About Timmins
Gold was discovered in the Timmins region in 1909 and is one of the world’s largest gold camps hosting five large gold systems and numerous base metal and nickel deposits including the Kidd Creek Mine. Given this history and cadence newly discovered ounces, the region remains highly prospective for new gold deposits.
The Timmins Camp has two parallel gold systems that run for roughly 50km along the north edge of the Porcupine-Destor Fault Zone. Oakhurst is exploring to locate the western extension of the northern system.
